At the January General Membership meeting, Guest Speaker Kevin Cooke, U.S. Secret Service senior special agent and cybersecurity expert, offered these tips to help prevent cyberattacks.  His full PowerPoint presentation is available HERE.

Password Hygiene – Inventory all your online accounts; use strong passwords for each account as well as multi-factor authorizations; close all unused accounts; consider using an encrypted password manager.

Operating Systems – Make sure you keep current with all updates; activate the auto updates feature on your equipment.

Install and use a VPN

Education & Actions – Keep and use only three credit cards and dedicate one card for purchases at gas station pumps and other public locations; use secure connections; update your firewall and encryption; use extreme caution when posting personal information on social media.

Inventory all connected devices
