National Flag Day – June 14th
June 14 is Flag Day, also called National Flag Day. It commemorates the date in 1777 when the United States approved the design for its first national flag.
Presidents Woodrow Wilson (in 1916) and Calvin Coolidge (in 1927) issued proclamations requesting June 14 as National Flag Day. It was not until August 3, 1949 that Congress approved the national observance and President Harry Truman signed it into law.
