Special Distinction

In the NCVOA’s nearly 100 years of existence, the late Roger Fay and his son, the late Vincent Fay, are the only father and son to have served as village mayor and NCVOA president.

Roger Fay, former mayor of the Village of Williston Park, NCVOA past president and past Executive Director, served as mayor in the 1960s. Roger also holds the distinction, along with Steve Mahler, former mayor of the Village of Atlantic Beach and NCVOA past president, as the only NCVOA mayors/past presidents to have been born prior to the incorporation of their respective villages. The Village of Williston Park, where Roger served as mayor in the 1960s, was incorporated in 1926 and the Village of Atlantic Beach was incorporated in 1962.

A staunch supporter of village government and a fixture in the Village of Williston Park, Roger remained active in our organization until his passing in September 2017, shortly after celebrating his 100th birthday.
